So before, I go on about this ask yourself if you feel the weekend is too short? If your answer was no, stop reading this and get the fuck off my blog. If your answer is yes, please continue to read.
Now, we get Saturday off to rejuvenate from a rigorous work week as well as spend time with our loved ones, cool. But, for some reason when Sunday night rolls around most people get what I'd like to call, "Sunday Blues" which has symptoms of anxiety and depression. I get them at times especially since my job is stressful.
That said, preoccupation about the work week invades your brain. Thoughts of everything you need to do fuel feelings of overwhelm and dread. Your mood takes a nose dive and you start feeling irritable and restless. In a 2013 poll from the career site Monster.com, 81 percent of Americans said they get Sunday-night blues. My thing is if you have to prepare for work on a Sunday, it doesn't count as being a part of the weekend in my book. Then again, that's just my opinion.
Anxiety and depression topped with stress can lead to some serious health issues, if not now later as we age. And that's a no no. So, what can we do to fix this? Start a friggin petition to make Friday a part of the weekend. I know what you you're thinking. "How would it work?" Well, Monday through Thursday would be 10 hour work days. What's the big deal with adding 2 more hours to our 8 hour work day schedule in a sacrifice to having Friday off? Think about it. You'll be off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be the usual prep day for work! No more Saturdayoff then Sunday prep day for work.
Personally I think this needs to be done as the "Sunday Blues" can have a negative impact on one's health. So, let us all look into starting a petition and getting our family and friends to sign. You may find others that don't agree with this and that's fine, fuck them. Now, if you'll excuse me I have to prepare for work. #fuckthesystem
